Traditional Japanese houses are treasures, full of beauty and craftsmanship. We’re passing them on to future generations.
The serenity of a timeless home. The warmth of hand-shaped wood. We believe in the value of objects that have been passed down from generation to generation ― and we’re working to preserve them for generations to come.
What we do
Katsuyama Construction renovates heritage homes; relocates traditional houses to new sites; coordinates property searches and renovation projects for homebuyers from outside the region (including overseas); and trains young carpenters in traditional construction techniques.
Prosess
A heritage home in Japanese snow country
The serenity of a house that has stood the test of time. The warmth of hand-carved wood. We believe that things that have been passed down through the ages have value and charm, and we want to preserve them for future generations.
Dedicated to craftsmanship
In an age of mass-produced building materials, hand-crafted homes stand out. Our methods are the product of centuries of honing by master builders. As long at there are customers who value heritage homes, we’re committed to keeping them alive.
Training future generations
Traditions need people to pass them on. We train young carpenters to preserve the skills, wisdom, and spirit of Japan’s construction culture. Under the guidance of experienced builders, our craftspeople are working to become the next generation of masters.
